Bible MNEMONICS
(Aids to memorization)Aids to the memorization of Bible facts, the location of selected verses, chapters, teachings, etc.
NOTE: It is well known that the best method of fixing any fact in the mind is by continued repetition and associating like things together.
In attempting to fix in the memory the location of important verses it is worth while to be constantly on the lookout for any coincidences that occur.
FOR EXAMPLE: "The 3.16's." John 3.16, is considered the greatest promise in the Bible. The memory may be aided by associating this great promise with the other important 3.16's which occur in the Scriptures.
Pr.3.16, the preciousness of wisdom; Mal.3.16, the Lord's jewels; Lu.3.16, the two baptisms; Ac.3.16, the mighty name; 1 Co.3.16, the temple of the Holy Spirit; Col.3.16, the indwelling Word of God; 1 Ti.3.16, the mystery of godliness; 2 Ti.3.16, the value of the Scriptures.
Another illustration: The 2.10's of Jesus. Lu.2.10, the Joy Bringer; Ep.2.10, the Character Builder; Ph.2.10, the Adorable Name; Col.2.10, the Fulfiller of Life; He.2.10, the Captain of our Salvation; Re.2.10, the Crown Giver.
The 4.13's, The Gifts of Jesus, Jn.4.13,14, satisfaction; Ac.4.13, transformation; Ep.4.13, inspiration; Ph.4.13, power; 1 Th.4.13,14, consolation.
The use of a few such series of texts would greatly aid the memory; too many would be confusing.
Other Coincidences: The seventh chapter of Genesis (ref.) contains references to the waters of death, while in the seventh chapter of John, Jesus speaks of the water of life, (v.37)
Three great warning chapters are easily associated together because they all contain the figure three. Jer.23, Eze.33, and Mt.23.
All contain solemn warnings to religious leaders.
Last Words. We desire to remember the last words of our loved ones.
